A Personalized Travel Poster of Their Hometown: A Gift Guide
A print of the town someone grew up in, the beach where they got engaged, or the place they just moved to is one of the few gifts that is both personal and lasting. Swell Scenes makes travel posters of real places, designed in-house and printed to order, and many of them can be personalized with your own words before you buy.
Step 1: Find their place
Start with the search bar or the personalized prints collection, which gathers the destination prints you can customize. Search by town, beach, trail, park or surf break. Product titles include the place and the region, so searching for a town name usually finds it quickly.
If the exact town is not there, look for the landmark people associate with it: the pier, the lighthouse, the nearest beach or the mountain on the horizon. Our travel art collection is organized by destination.
Step 2: Add the words that make it theirs
On any product page with a Customize button, you can change the heading and the subheading, each up to 42 characters. Popular choices:
- A family name and the year they moved in, for a housewarming gift
- Two names and a wedding date, for the place they married or honeymooned
- "Home" with the town name, for someone who has moved away
- Coordinates or a street name, for a place only they will recognize
You can also choose the typeface, the ink color, the text size and spacing, whether the text sits above or below the art, and an optional matte border. Your text appears on the artwork as you type, so what you approve is what gets printed. Personalizing costs nothing extra.
Step 3: Choose a size and finish
Personalized prints come in the same sizes as the standard ones, from 5x7 to 24x36 inches, as a print on its own, framed in black, white or wood, or as floating-frame canvas in black, white or walnut. For a housewarming gift, 12x18 or 16x20 framed suits most walls; for a statement piece above a sofa or bed, choose 18x24 or 24x36.
If their place is not in the shop
Send us the place, and anything that makes it specific, through the contact page or at team@swellscenes.com. We can often add new places and will tell you whether we can draw it.
Timing for a gift
Each print is made to order. Most orders ship within 3 to 5 days and arrive 3 to 6 days later within the U.S., so allow about two weeks before the date. Shipping is free on orders of 3 or more items.
