About the Mercury Drawing

The instrument panel of America's first crewed spacecraft. Project Mercury ran from 1958 to 1963 and flew six crewed missions, and this NASA line drawing from November 1963 maps the cockpit its pilots flew.

The drawing lays out the left console, main instrument panel and right console, the switches, dials and gauges of an era when spaceflight was brand new. NASA image S63-21624.

This is an authentic NASA line drawing from November 1963, cleaned up for print, not a modern artist's impression or digital illustration.
